This is an excellent example of Vocal Style Fusion. Ella Fitzgerald sings Cream’s Sunshine of Your Love with such authority, employing Jazz sensibilities, along with a Rock, Funk, R&B and Pop awareness. She absolutely commands this song as she scats, bringing her personal style to a song that was originally written for a completely different genre. This performance is exceptional!
The lesson here is to always be yourself. Bring your special brand to everything you do. Don’t be afraid to be a pioneer and step outside of your comfort zone. Wonderful things happen when you do!
