Lincoln School began its celebration of Black History Month with Greta Pope.
Pope is a renowned singer who has traveled throughout the world performing songs in English, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Yiddish, Serbian and Romani. Pope was accompanied on piano by Paul Casino.
Pope took the students at Lincoln on a historical musical journey through song reminding students of the contributions of African-Americans. Students were reminded of the history that African-Americans have and are still making.
Students had the opportunity to hear the songs of singers such as Josephine Baker, Duke Ellington and Louie Armstrong, just to name a few. While highlighting the lives of others, Pope encouraged and reminded Lincoln students they could be anything they wanted to be.
